Get to Know the Moderator…..

If your one of the people who are taking a little bit more time to complete the CSC, then I highly recommend getting to know your forum moderator.  Chapters 1 – 12 and 13 – 23 have different moderators, who answer questions very differently.  I am not encouraging you to build any sort of personal relationship, but understanding how they answer questions can really push you ahead of the curve, so to speak.  I have advocated many times on the usefulness of the forums, and while I do have some complaints (later post), they are generally quite valuable. I can’t say that this particular strategy will be useful to someone on a tight time-line or someone who wants to do as minimal amount of work as possible, but for those who wish to further dig down into topics to ensure a solid foundation, the moderator is your guide.

For instance, I was able to skip approximately 25% of the questions in the forum, because I had become accustomed to the moderators responses.  A question like “Do I have to remember the chart on page 14.2?” would almost always be answered by “Any material inside the current CSC textbook is exam testable”.  That’s all he would say, every time he was asked that question.  Although getting to know the forums and the styling of questioning is useful, overusing its as a primary study source would not be an advisable course of action. You may be skeptical right about now, but take a quick peak in the chapter section of the forums and read a couple postings.  You’ll quickly realize that the skills of the moderators can make sense of some concepts that were harder to understand or worded differently in the textbook.  Don’t let this resource go to waste.
